WHICH? Trusted Traders is an endorsement scheme orchestrated by the long-established and well-respected Consumer Champion, WHICH? The scheme was introduced to create a national database where members of the public can find tradesman and companies that offer a level of service that can be relied upon to provide a good service and remove to a minimum the level of risk when choosing a supplier. The scheme recognises reputable traders who successfully pass their rigorous assessment process which scrutinises all aspects of their operation to ensure that they fully comply. Every element of the business is reviewed and only a very small percentage of the companies vetted are accepted into the scheme. Apparently, most companies fail the screening process which demonstrates how stringent their standards are!
The following forms the basis of the criteria which a company must pass to become accredited;
• Firstly, a full credit check is conducted to ensure the company is on a sound financial footing and that the appropriate procedures are in place for customer payments to be made in a fair and ethical order throughout the transaction. Our business was found to be financially sound and our payment structure was found to be very fair.
• An independent check is made at random from a selection of previous customer references to verify overall customer satisfaction when dealing with the company. We supplied details of previous customers ranging from some very recent projects to some installed almost 15 years ago and the feedback WHICH? received from them was very complimentary to Atlantic and the service they have received from us.
• A personal visit from a Which? Trusted Traders Assessor, to examine our premises, business procedures, company documentation, terms and conditions and all aspects that are relevant to a potential customer are reviewed. After a few very minor tweaks to some wording on our terms and conditions, our procedures passed with flying colours. Especially the computerised customer pricing and information system we operate that offers simple price comparisons on product options.
• Finally the company must agree to abide by the Which? Trusted Traders Code of Conduct and their Terms and Conditions, which offers customers a high level of protection and peace of mind when dealing with a Trusted Trader. Our performance is then monitored to ensure we comply with their recommendations.
